The scope of the project included consolidating three existing websites with a significant amount of legacy content: the main bank website, Chesapeake Wealth Management and the community blog. With this, the marketing team’s objective was to create an updated, more cohesive user experience, for both site visitors (current and potential customers) and site administrators.
Chesapeake Bank collaborated with ipso to design and develop a custom responsive website built on the open-source Umbraco CMS. A robust content and UX architecture phase helped the teams collaborate on the best methods to merge the three sites, formulate development requirements and identify page structures/elements needed to support content flexibility.
Dynamic functionality was added to customize the user experience for those visiting the Chesapeake Bank section or the Chesapeake Wealth Management section, both of which had unique requirements and messaging needs. A mix of flexible grid layouts and custom page types were developed to support the various content architecture needs identified.
In the effort to adhere to WCAG 2.0 Level AA compliance standards, the ipso team utilized the SiteImprove tool during the QA process to ensure compliance.
The new Umbraco website admin allows administrators the freedom to add, edit or delete content as needed. Flexible page types provide the freedom to capitalize on cross-sell opportunities within the site structure.
Umbraco provides native workflows to streamline edit, approval and publish functions for the Chesapeake Bank marketing team. The SiteImprove plugin is integrated with the Umbraco admin interface to allow seamless review and mitigation of accessibility, digital certainty and SEO issues supporting the bank’s compliance requirements.
