"ipso is one of those young companies that has this delightful blend of ingenuity, eagerness, and whimsy. I love their clean and simple approach to design to allow our new site to have an ease of navigation and new functionalities that we've finally been able to check off our wish list!" - Stephanie Leykauf, Marketing Director

Challenge

Like many expert content providers, Simon Says Stamp's blog has become a key component in their overall marketing efforts. Going into this project, we noticed several challenges with their current Wordpress site: First of all, several Wordpress functions had been commandeered for use beyond their original intent. The existing blog's search functionality was poor, and the website's administrators were in desperate need of some custom-designed content widgets. And visually, the site needed an all around refresh.

Solution

Since this is a blog that crafters (or potential crafters) come to for expert information, it was important to spend a significant portion of the Architecture Phase to rethink the user experience. Our goal was to align what website visitors experienced with the stated goal of “inspire. educate. provide a sense of community,” and to give the whole site a fresh look. We also created a short, interview-based video that conveyed the company's passionate, authentic, humble tone.

Results

From the initial sitemap to the wireframes to the homepage design, we prioritized the educational resource content (including a new section titled, “New Crafter’s Guide”) and we significantly enhanced the site's search functionality. We created new unique landing pages for the Monday Challenge and Wednesday Challenge (which both have an avid following). We also prominently placed Calls to Action (CTAs) for becoming a subscriber. On the Wordpress side of things, we created custom admin areas for the video galleries and card kits.
